HNDSHK is a peer-to-peer sports challenge app where friends compete using virtual play credits. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account you agree to this policy.

1. Who can use HNDSHK

HNDSHK is for people 21 years of age or older. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account and do not allow anyone under 21 to register. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21; if we learn we have, we will delete it.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: email address, password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form by our authentication provider; we cannot see it), username, and display name.

• Date of birth: collected once, only to confirm you are 21 or older. It is stored privately, is never shown to other users, and is not used for advertising.

• Profile content: an optional profile photo and cover photo, your favorite teams, and your app theme and notification preferences.

• Messages and posts: direct messages to friends and messages you post in public game chat rooms.

• Reports and feedback: reports you file about other users, and bug reports or feedback you send us (including the category, description, and screen you were on).

Information created as you use the app

• Your challenges, picks, results, play-credit balance, experience points, badges, win/loss record, sportsmanship score, rivalries, friend connections and requests, and users you have blocked.

• Aggregated pick counts (for example, how many slips include a given prop), used to show popularity. These counts are not shown with your name.

Device information

• A push notification token, so we can send notifications you have enabled.

• If you turn on Face ID or fingerprint sign-in, the biometric check happens entirely on your device through your phone's operating system. We never receive your fingerprint or face data. If you choose "Remember Me," your sign-in details are saved on your device only.

What we do not collect: we do not collect your precise location, contacts, advertising identifier, or browsing activity, and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking.

3. How we use information

• To create and secure your account and verify you are 21 or older.

• To run the app: matching challenges, scoring results, showing your profile and friends, delivering messages and notifications.

• To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms, and removing content or accounts that violate them.

• To fix bugs and improve the app.

• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

4. Who we share information with

• Other users. Your username, display name, profile and cover photos, favorite teams, win/loss record, badges, and similar profile information can be seen by other HNDSHK users. You can hide your record, biggest win, and total slips from your profile in Settings. Profile and cover photos are stored at web addresses that can be opened by anyone who has the link. Messages in public game chat are visible to everyone in that room. Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you sent them to.

• Service providers that help us run HNDSHK, under their own privacy and security obligations: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and server functions) and Expo together with Apple and Google (delivery of push notifications). We also retrieve public sports data from third-party data providers; no personal information about you is sent to them.

• Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.

• Business transfers. If HNDSHK LLC is involved in a merger or sale, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

5. Your choices and rights

• Delete your account. In the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your email address, profile and cover photos, messages, friends, block list, push notification tokens, date of birth, and feed activity, and replaces your username and display name with anonymous placeholders. Your account can no longer be signed in to. Records of completed challenges, and the experience points, badges, and statistics tied to them, are kept in anonymized form under "Deleted User" so other players' histories stay accurate. You must first finish or cancel any challenge still in progress.

• Block and report. You can block any user, and report users or individual game chat messages, from within the app.

• Notifications. You can change notification preferences in Settings or in your phone's system settings.

• Photos. You can replace your profile and cover photos at any time. Deleting your account removes them.

• Questions or requests. For access, correction, or deletion requests, email hndshk@thecreativemindcollective.com.

Depending on where you live (for example, California and other U.S. states), you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these requests regardless of location. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by state privacy laws.

6. Retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove the personal information described above promptly; limited records (such as reports about conduct, bug reports and feedback you submitted, and anonymized game history) may be retained as needed for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Backups may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Virtual credits

Play credits in HNDSHK are virtual, have no monetary value, and cannot be bought, sold, withdrawn, or redeemed. We do not process payments or collect financial information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the effective date. If changes are significant, we will notify you in the app.
